Ella is 2!

This week we celebrated Ella's 2nd Birthday!  We didn't do too much, but we tried to make it a special day for our special little girl!  Ella got a kitchen for her birthday and has loved opening and closing all the cabinets and putting together all sorts of imaginary concoctions!  I see a chef in the making!  Here are a few pictures:

It is hard to believe that two years ago we had the surprise of our lives when Ella decided to come 13 weeks early!  Every time I look at her I am reminded that she truly is a miracle.  We feel so blessed to have her part of our family!  Ella, we sure love you and enjoy watching you grow more and more every day.  I'm so proud to be your Mom!

Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet

I love the fall season!  The leaves are gorgeous, the air is crisp, and of course we get to go around to peoples homes and get candy just by saying "trick or treat."  It's fantastic!  This year was Ella's first experience trick-or-treating and she loved it!  It took her a while to get the hang of it, but after a few houses she was pointing to her "peet" (pink) princess dress, saying "trick-or-treat", "thank you" and "bye-bye" to anyone who handed her candy!  Needless to say, she was having the time of her life.  I was about to have a nervous breakdown watching her ingest so much sugar, but she was just so stinking cute and excited that I just let her have whatever she wanted.  That's what Halloween is for isn't it?

Our weekend started off with a party at Ella's school.  Brad and I were able to come and spend a couple of hours with Ella.  We got there a little early and were so impressed at how well the kids behave there!  They were just getting up from their naps and they all just sat there and waited as the teachers went around to all of them and changed their diapers.  Then when it was time, they all walked over to the table and sat down and enjoyed the yummy snacks that all the parents brought (we brought grapes and I don't think any of the kids touched them!  I guess grapes just can't compete with cookies and fruit snacks, oh well).  It was so cute to see them all sitting in their little chairs and eating so good!  Here's a few pics:

Next, everyone got into their costumes and went trick-or-treating around the school.  They made little baggies for them and we made a loop around all the classrooms.

Trick-or-Treating

These are Ella's teachers Ms. Tristan and Ms. Megan.  Ella LoVed her teachers and they adored her.  It's hard for me to drop her off each day, but these girls made it so much easier!  This was Ella's last day at her school and we are sure going to miss it there!  If you ever need a great place to take your kids for daycare or preschool check out Providence!

Next are just a few pictures from a fun Halloween party that we went to on Saturday.  The Estrada's threw an awesome party with delicious food and amazing decorations.  It was so fun to be with good friends and enjoy the beautiful evening!

Since we are kind of party poopers we weren't going to dress up, but at the last minute we decided that we would be a family of kitty-cats.  Creative, I know :)  

Ella loves "cat-kitties" (that's what she calls the stray that lives by our apartment) and was so excited to pretend to be one.  She would lick her hand and say "neow neow".  Too cute.

Oh, Tessa and Ella.  These two are so funny together.  They had a blast running around!

You could definitely tell that all the sugar from the past couple of days had really begun to kick in.  These girls were dancing like crazy to the music that was playing at the party.  Ella would get so dizzy from running around in circles she could hardly stay on her feet.  I was really starting to wonder if someone had spiked the punch!  She had so much fun and was sad to leave!

The other day I was doing a little cleaning up around the house.  Ella, who is normally tagging along right beside me, had run off to find something else to occupy her time.  After a while I noticed that she hadn't checked back in with me or called my name or anything like she usually does so I began to wonder what she was up to.  As I walked down the hallway towards the bedrooms I could hear her playing and talking to herself.  I thought, "Oh, how sweet.  She's playing so good by herself and talking so sweet."  When I found her this is where she was.  All I could say was Holy Moly!

I guess this is just another good reason to stay caught up on your laundry!

The Park

Last Friday, after we picked Ella up from school (where she got bit again for the third time, but that's a whole other story......sigh), we decided it would be fun to go to the park.  Ella has recently discovered that she is a big girl now and loves playing on the toys and going down the slides all by herself.  I'll admit that it makes going to the park a lot more fun for all of us since now she can play on the toys by herself and I'm not AS worried about her falling and breaking her neck as I have been in the past.  Anyway, she really loves it and we have been trying to take advantage of the nice and cool weather while we can.

This is some video of Ella going down the Big Kid slides.  Her little jogging suit allowed her to pick up some speed going down the slide.  I think it surprised her a little bit, but she had a blast!  Enjoy

Belle on the Ball and The Ryder Cup

This last Saturday Brad and I went to the Belle on the Ball (It's actually Ball on the Belle, but I kept getting it mixed up so now I just call it Belle on the Ball).  This is basically dental school prom.  It's a big dance on the Belle of Louisville, this really old steamboat.  Everyone loads onto the boat and they go up and down the Ohio River.  At first I didn't want to go (I hated going to dances in high school so why would I like them now), but the girls in my ward talked me into it and it ended up being so much fun.  Everyone got all dolled up and danced the night away.

This last week the Ryder Cup was in Louisville.  They played at Valhalla, which isn't too far away from where we live.  Our Bishop called Brad one night and asked him if he wanted to ditch school and go to the Ryder Cup with him.  He got some tickets through a friend.  Brad was stoked and would have gone no matter what, but was nice enough to ask my permission (like I could have stopped him).  I MaDe him take the camera so he could take pictures, for blogging purposes of course.  Thanks Bishop for asking Brad to go.  He loved it and had a great time.  Here are just a few that he took.

Lately.....

Since it seems like I have been out of touch with everyone the past couple of weeks, I thought I would post about what has been going on with the Wyatt's lately!

First, we survived the windstorm that Hurricane Ike sent our way!  A week ago from Sunday the wind was blowing when we left for church in the morning and by the time we left it was blowing like crazy!  We got home and around 2pm our power went out.  We thought, "oh it will be back on later tonight."  Nope!  Not us anyway.  We didn't get power back until Friday evening!  And one of my teachers at school still doesn't have any power.  I can't complain too much because we were totally taken care of by our amazing friends.  We were well fed and even had many offers from friends to let us use their warm showers and do our laundry at their house.  Thank you everyone! I would have not been able to make it through the week sane if we didn't have so much help.

Let's see, what else.  Oh, Brad and I ran a 5k last Tuesday.  Of course I hadn't done any running leading up to the race so I didn't do good or anything, but it was fun.  The course was great and it is a race that I will definitely do again.  

School is going.....well it's going, we'll just leave it at that!  I really do like the program.  It really keeps me busy.  We've had a ton of tests lately and I just finished my third and final test for the week today (we had three tests and a quiz) .   And I only have one test and one quiz next week so I feel sooo relieved!  I feel like I've just made it through finals week, but really it's not even midterm!  Anyway, I'm just glad this week of testing is over!

Labor Day

I know this is a week late but I wanted to post some pictures of the Bats game we went to on Labor day. It was BLAZING hot and we were all sweating to death but it was fun to get out to a game.  We have lived in Louisville a year and haven't made it out to a game yet, so we invited the Clowards to brave the heat with us.  Even though I spent more time chasing Ella then watching the game it was still a good time!

After the game they let the kids run around the bases on the field.  We decided to let Ella do it, but I think Brad was the one that really wanted to do it.  She was so funny to watch.  She would get so mad when other kids came around and passed her.  She wanted to be out there all by herself.  

This is Ella on the home stretch.  She was totally pooped out but made it the whole way.  It was a fun relaxing Labor Day and it made for a short week which was FanTastiC!  I can't wait until the next holiday :)

Do You Remember My Plant...

I don't know if anyone remembers an old post I did about the planting kits I bought from target, but I wanted to do an update.  The kit came with a tiny little pot, soil, and seeds.  You were supposed to plant them in the tiny pot and then when they got bigger you could move them to a bigger pot.  Anyway, I wasn't hopeful but I am very proud to say that ONE seed did sprout and the plant is still alive and going strong.

And this is a picture of our plant that was taken a couple days ago.  It is a tomato plant and even though we will never get any tomatoes in it I am still so proud that it is still alive and GroWinG like crazy.  I don't even water it that much anymore and it still just keeps growing. 

No More Excuses For Bad Driving :(

After driving around with expired plates for the past couple of months, we decided we had better bite the bullet and register our car in good old KY.  It was sad to part with our UT plates.  My first thought was, "Now I have no excuse for bad driving when I don't know where I am going!"  I always thought people were a little more forgiving when you have out of state plates.  Oh well.  What can you do!

A Day of Firsts

Well folks, yesterday was an exciting day full of firsts for Ella and I.  I had my first day back to school after taking a 21 month break!  After having Ella I decided that the Elementary Education program wasn't something that I wanted to graduate in, even though I am only about 3 semesters away from finishing.  So, I applied to the dental hygiene program at UofL, to the surprise of my family and friends, and had my first day of school on Monday!  Aside from being a bit of an outcast (people can't believe I am married and have a little girl and am only 23!) I think I am really going to like school :)  I definitely learned that I am a little rusty on my bio/chem (the other girls literally just finished all the pre-reqs, I haven't had a science class in, hmmmm, 3 1/2 years!), but I knew I was going to have to study a lot before I even applied to the program!  Anyway, wish me luck and here are just a couple pics.

Yes, that's right.  Ella had her first day of school also!  We were so grateful to have people offer to watch Ella for us from our awesome ward.  So, on Tuesdays and Thursdays she gets to spend at friends' houses.  But on MWF we found this awesome day care/preschool that we decided to put her in.  We call it school for her because it is very structured and they teach them tons including sign language (and they have security cameras in every room so you can go online at any time and see what your child is doing).  I was so nervous to drop her off, but Ella didn't even cry when we left.  She sat down at the little table and started eating her pancakes and applesauce, so adorable!  I was the one that was bawling as soon as I walked out of the room!  I had no idea it would be such an emotional day for me, I thought Ella was the one who would be crying.  Anyway, they give you this little sheet telling you what your child did all day.  I thought it was pretty cute so I decided to post it.  My favorite part was that they marked that Ella was cheerful.  It made me so happy!

A Cluster of Events

I had a bunch of pictures that I wanted to post so I decided to bunch them all into one big post.  First off is Brad's birthday pictures.  Brad turned 27 on July 31st.  We were able to go out to an early dinner while our wonderful friends, the Clowards, watched Ella.  Then we had a few friends over for some icecream cake...yummy!

Here I am trying to light the tealight we used for Brad's candle.  I just didn't have 27 candles lying around and didn't make it to the store to get some.  I think it worked out just fine although it took me a couple of tries before I got it lit....I'm not very good with matches!

Next event is the release of Breaking Dawn, the 4th and final book of the twilight series.  My friend Heather let me borrow the first three and I got hooked just like everybody else.  I don't own any of the books but I really wanted to read the last one and I knew I needed to read it before school starts or else I wouldn't have any time.  We decided to go to the party at Borders (the bookstore just up the street) and wait in line at midnight for our copies.  Heather prepared ahead of time and got her name on the list before me.  They gave us wristbands with numbers on them.  Heather was number 117 in line...not to bad.  Since I waited until last minute (like always!) I was number 379!  Fortunately, they were having a raffle for the first 20 books to be sold.  I have never won anything, but I just happened to win the 7th place in line.  It was so funny!

I knew that we needed to have one last hurray before Brad and I started school so we were so happy when the Clowards invited us to Holiday World.  Holiday World is in Santa Claus, Indiana which is about an hour away and is such a fun place!  It's a theme park with a few roller coasters and other rides as well as a giant water park.  We had a blast and stayed as long as we possibly could.  We were all so tired by the end of the day!  The kids loved it and were sooo good.  I couldn't believe it, no melt downs even though it was hot and muggy.  We for sure will be going every year!

And here is Tyler.  He is quite the daredevil!  He went on almost every ride that he was tall enough to go on and only needed a little talking in to.  Get ready Tyler...next year you can go on the roller coasters for sure!

This was Ella's second ride that she went on all by herself.  She was facing backwards and was not excited when she saw that I wasn't riding with her.  

This is how the ride went....Ella crying.  I know, we are such mean parents putting our little girl on a big scary ride, but don't be deceived.  She had no tears, she was just mad that I left her.  She stopped after a few turns!

This ride Ella and Tessa got to sit together and went much more smoothly.  She really liked it.  I can't believe my baby is old enough to ride on rides by herself!  They grow up so fast!!

The boys (Brad, Tyler, Dan) went on this ride together.  It goes up and drops you down a few times.  Tyler loved it.  He went on it 12 times.

Heather and I decided we would try it with Tyler too.  I was screaming like a baby!  It was only slightly embarrassing as it was a KIDS ride.  When I wasn't screaming I was laughing hysterically because the lady next to me kept saying, "I too scared, I too scared."  It was so funny.
